PRESCHOOL LEARNING CENTER NEWS

THE PLC IS FULL!  We are happy to announce that the Preschool Learning Center is full for the coming school year!  All slots for the three classes (including the new TTH 4's class) are completely filled!  With our new TTH class, that means that you will hear the 'pitter-patter' of preschool feet 5 days a week at the church!  If you would like to help support this ministry -- the PLC is always in need of supplies to keep it running smoothly.   We can always use:  Goldfish, snack crackers (such animal crackers, graham crackers), bottled apple juice, diaper wipes (the refills are fine!), Lysol (unscented or Linen Scent), Kleenex, and spray cleaner.   Any donation can be left in the office.

our philosophy

As a ministry of the Presbyterian Church, the PLC seeks to provide a safe, nurturing, Christ-centered educational environment where children and their families feel a sense of support, unity, and acceptance.  Our classes are intentionally small (8:1 in the 3's class and 10:1 in the 4's class) to enable the teachers to focus more on the individual needs and strengths of each child.  The PLC was created to give preschool children the best possible start as they begin their school years.  Our program was developed over 10 years ago to fill a need for high quality Christian preschool education in our community.  At the PLC, children flourish as they experience the joy of learning in a warm and caring place.

At the PLC, our teachers are one of our most important assets.  Their most important attribute is an understanding and appreciation for young children and how they learn.  We hire the most qualified teachers available.  Our teachers have Bachelors Degrees or beyond, as well as experience teaching in public and/or private schools.  They continue to attend conferences and classes to enhance their skills.

learning

We believe that a love for learning is one of the most important gifts we can give to any child. We see our role as one of helping children enjoy school while we lay a foundation for the years to come. Throughout each school day we will work with children to help develop the skills that are necessary for success in school, such as:

  • Self control

  • Resolving conflicts appropriately

  • Taking turns

In addition to these skills, children are engaged in art, music, science, social studies, language arts, math and faith development.

activities

Our classrooms are bright, engaging places filled with the activities of learning. Our teachers know that children grow by experiencing lots of different things, so our days are planned with the needs of active preschoolers in mind. Some of the things our preschoolers may be doing on any given day are:

  • Art projects

  • Music

  • Playtime

  • Large motor activities

  • Storytime

  • Circle time

  • Snack time

  • Faith development
